Orthopedic Surgeons

Joel W. Renbaum, M.D.,QME, Medical Director

Dr. Renbaum received his education at Johns Hopkins University and graduated from medical school at the University of Maryland in 1968. He was Board Certified in Orthopedic surgery in 1974 after a residency at combined program at the U.S. Public Health Service and Tulane University. He then went into private practice in San Francisco. He has extensive experience in the Workers' Compensation arena both in treating and evaluating patients.

In addition to general orthopedics and injury care, he has a special interest in treating injured workers with knee and shoulder problems. He is a Qualified Medical Evaluator.


 


William R. Campbell, D.O., QME

Dr. Campbell completed his orthopaedic surgical residency in the Michigan State University system and later went on to fellowship training at the University of Texas Medical Branch.  He is a board-certified Orthopaedic surgeon focusing on the surgical treatment of shoulder, knee, sports medicine and general orthopaedics. He also provides non-surgical treatment of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.

With thousands of cases worth of experience Dr. Campbell brings a well-honed skill set to those patients in need of surgical treatment. That said, as an Osteopathic physician by medical school training, he employs an integrative approach in treating patients, and is often able to care for patients without the need for heavy medications or surgery.

Every patient is different and he approaches each one individually, truly partnering with him or her. He derives a great deal of satisfaction from getting to know and working together with his patients as they choose from the various treatment options that best match their goals.

As well, Dr. Campbell is well versed in the medical management of worker's compensation with a keen understanding of the various issues surrounding AOE/COE, TTD, disability rating, apportionment, and future medical care. He has a thorough appreciation for how those factors affect patients, employers and the various carriers.

 


Joseph M. Centeno, M.D.
, Q.M.E.

Dr. Centeno is an Orthopedic Surgeon trained at the UCLA School of Medicine. He recieved honors in Orthopaedic Surgery, Surgery, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Prior to UCLA, Dr. Centeno earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California at Berkeley where he was on the Deans List and graduated with distinction. Maintaining his residency at Stanford University before working at Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Centeno ads a vast array of expertise and experience to our team of professionals.

 

 


Robert S. Ferretti, M.D., QME

Dr. Ferretti received his medical degree at New York Medical College. He completed a general and Orthopedic surgery residency program that included pediatric orthopedics at St. Charles Children's Orthopedic Hospital in New York and trauma reconstruction at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Colorado. He began private practice in San Francisco in 1971 at French Hospital Medical Center where he served as Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery from 1981-1987. Teaching and supervising orthopedic residents has been an integral part of his practice.

 


 

Teodoro Nissen, M.D.

Upon graduating from University of California at Berkeley, Dr. Nissen attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. Practicing Orthopaedic Surgery at UCSF and St. Luke's, Dr. Nissen has extensive experience focusing on Sports, Trauma and Arthoplasy. Dr. Nissen is involved in the education of medical students, residents and fellows, evaluate patients in Sports Medicine/Trauma Clinic and is involved in weekly trauma teaching conferences at UCSF.

 

 
  

Laura Sciaroni, M.D. 

Dr. Sciaroni is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine injuries and conditions.  She focuses her practice in sports medicine including ACL injury and rotator cuff as well as general Orthopaedic surgery, with particular interest in surgery and rehabilitation of the shoulder and knee.

 Dr. Sciaroni believes that success comes through teamwork, and her patients are informed and active participants in their recovery process.  She is committed to helping her patients maintain a fulfilling and active lifestyle, and will partner with her patients to determine the best surgical and nonsurgical approaches to meet their goals and expectations. Dr. Sciaroni employs innovative and well-established procedures to evaluate, diagnose and treat orthopedic injuries and conditions, staying current with important developments in orthopedics to remain at the forefront of innovation.

When out of the office, Dr. Sciaroni can usually be found somewhere on Mt. Tam or the Marin Headlands, hiking, or riding her road bike or mountain bike.
